George Zhang is an Investment Analyst at the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas, supporting the investment and management of fund and principal real estate investments across geographies, risk profiles, and property types globally. At ~$175B AUM and $30B in real estate NAV, TRS is one of the largest pension funds in the U.S., serving over 1.9 million educators across the state’s public education and university systems. Prior to TRS, George was on the acquisitions team at Gemdale USA Corporation, supporting the identification and underwriting of mixed-use investment and development opportunities.
George received his Master's degree with focus on real estate and architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he received the Ferdinand Colleredo-Mansfeld Prize for superior achievement in real estate studies. At Harvard, George was deeply involved in the real estate community and served various roles including Co-President of the Harvard GSD Real Estate Club, Co-Chair of Harvard Real Estate Symposium (fka Harvard Real Estate Weekend), and Co-Editor in Chief of Harvard Real Estate Review. George also holds a Bachelor of Science from Washington University in St. Louis, where he received the James W. Fitzgibbon Scholarship and the Faculty Book Prize.
