ABOUT HAREB


The Harvard Alumni Real Estate Board (HAREB) is a nonprofit Shared Interest Group (SIG) of the Harvard Alumni Association. HAREB is comprised of Harvard University alumni engaged in the field of real estate whose North Star focus is to: 

Engage with fellow board members to help foster a beneficial network of alumni working in the real estate industry to promote professional and personal growth,

Connect with the student community, acting as a bridge between the students studying real estate and the board to create an enhanced experience for the student cohort studying real estate,

Serve as an ambassador within the Harvard Real Estate community.

HAREB meets formally twice each year on campus, providing Board members an opportunity to:

  • Engage with the real estate community of Harvard alumni and students,

  • Foster dialogue with peers and senior members in the industry,

  • Benefit from dynamic presentations by Harvard faculty and real estate industry thought leaders,

  • Participate in member workshares on key industry projects,

  • Network through intimate gatherings at signature Harvard venues,

  • Share experience and insights through mentoring current undergraduate and graduate Harvard students.

In addition to its bi-yearly formal gatherings, the Board produces a robust calendar of hands-on training and experiential learning opportunities for the University’s real estate student cohort. This programming is designed to complement and build on the depth and breadth of the University’s real estate education and is open to students from Harvard College, the Graduate School of Design, and the business, law, and Kennedy schools. HAREB’s student programming provides University students opportunities to:

  • Obtain industry knowledge from guest speakers and panelists,

  • Participate in real estate modeling and valuation professional training,

  • Benefit from mentoring with seasoned Board members,

  • Gain exposure to the field through visits to real estate companies across the spectrum of sectors and geographies and,

  • Build a sustaining network of university peers and alums engaged in the real estate industry.

HAREB is the successor organization to the Real Estate Academic Initiative at Harvard University (2007-2015). The Board is an affiliate of the Harvard Real Estate Alumni Organization.
